About Lindsey Wilson College
Lindsey Wilson College originated in 1899 when five Methodist Episcopal Church preachers met at the Annual Conference to discuss a teacher training school in the Columbia District. In 1903, the Lindsey Wilson Training School was opened in honor of benefactor Catherine Wilson’s nephew. Two decades later, Lindsey Wilson expanded from “normal work” to teach arts and sciences. In 1934, the Lindsey Wilson College name was adopted when the Academy closed. In 1951, LWC was accepted for initial accreditation candidacy. In 1979, LWC stopped maintaining the Model Training School. In 1987, the 350,000-volume Katie Murrell Library was established. In 1993, President John B. Begley founded the Roberta Cranmer Dining and Conference Center. Two years after, Lindsey Wilson College won its first NAIA championship in men’s soccer. By 2010, the Dr. Robert and Carol Goodin Nursing & Counseling Center was operational.

On January 15, 2013, Lindsey Wilson College submitted the Quality Enhancement Plan to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Board of Trustees to begin the Level V accreditation reaffirmation process through 2023-24 under President William T. Luckey, Ph.D. This esteemed 11-state Southeast Region accreditor is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and Kentucky Department of Education. Lindsey Wilson College Application Requirements
Admission to Lindsey Wilson College is classified “minimally selective” by Peterson’s because 1,915 of the 2,090 Fall 2017 applicants were chosen for 92 percent acceptance. First-year Raiders must finish a suitable college-prep curriculum or earn GED subject scores over 145. On average, freshmen present a cumulative GPA of 3.3. The middle 50th percentile have SAT scores of 970-1180. Mid-range ACT composite scores are 18-24. Begley Scholarship applicants need at least 3.0 GPAs and 24 ACT marks for full-tuition coverage. Undergrads can transfer a maximum of 64 credits graded “C” or better from junior colleges. International students may enter with a 450 TOEFL or 60 Michigan Placement Test score. Graduate School entrants must have concluded a regionally accredited bachelor’s with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Individuals with 3.0 GPAs or four years of work experience qualify for the GRE/GMAT Waiver. Doctoral candidates need a CACREP-accredited master’s of 48+ credits and GRE scores over 300.
Lindsey Wilson College enforces final deadlines of August 15th for Fall and January 15th for Spring enrollment. Note the Bonner and Wesley Scholars Programs close on March 15th each year. Tuition and Financial Aid
For 2019-20, Lindsey Wilson College is charging traditional full-time undergrads $12,540 per semester or $25,080 annually. Part-time A.P. White Campus study will incur $1,045 per credit. Associate/bachelor’s majors cover the $160 activity fee and $110 activity fee. Residing at the Columbia housing like McCandless Hall adds $3,420 for yearly rent. The National Center for Education Statistics reported that the Student Financial Services Office in Elizabeth Lowe Whitfield Hall gets 100 percent of new LWC Raiders enrolled with median aid of $20,433 each or $9.86 million total. Institutional programs include the Bertha Hamilton Coomer Scholarship, Fred Gribbins Ministerial Scholarship, Elsie Butcher Scholarship, Floyd & Magdalene Dudgeon Scholarship, Coach Don Green Scholarship, Mary Lucy Lowe Scholarship, Dr. Emil McAdams Scholarship, Samuel Orr Scholarship, Keefe Family Non-Traditional Scholarship, Shelly Thrasher Scholarship, and Sue Cravens Stivers Scholarship. The Distinguished Young Women Scholarship gifts up to $3,500 for freshmen females with GPAs above 3.0. The $6,000 Achievement Scholarship selects outstanding undergrads exceeding the 18 ACT or 990 SAT minimum. Federal assistance, such as the Pell Grant and SEOG Grant, requires FAFSA applications coded 001972. The Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program also has a January 10th deadline for renewable full- or half-tuition awards.
