The program is challenging and designed for students who demonstrate they are able to work at an accelerated pace. The program is only offered at the Flagstaff campus and provides students the key principles, theories, techniques, sources, and methods of historical disciplines. The Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction through the College of Education is available at the Flagstaff campus. It is a dissertation-based degree that is designed for those who are seeking advanced knowledge in teaching and curriculum. The program prepares students for positions in a wide range of venues, including public and private schools, community college, government and more. It requires between 60 and 109 units of graduate-level courses, a dissertation and a comprehensive examination. The program is designed for those who have a desire gain an understanding of curriculum and instruction, learning through theoretical frameworks and construct-reasoned curricular arguments.
The College of Engineering, Informatics and Applied Sciences offers a Computer Information Technology Master’s degree that is available in an online format. Students may concentrate their degree in the following areas:

The program is designed for those who wish to address challenges associated with computer information technology. Students are able to understand and explain overreaching computer information technology concepts while also evaluating the impact of technology on businesses and organizations. The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and Allied Health offered through the College of Health is available in a completely online format or on the Yuma campus. Students may choose from the following concentrations:

The program requires 120 credit hours and provides an understanding of human diseases as well as the risk factors, signs, symptoms and treatment associated with those diseases. Students are able to identify and explain what determines optimal health and wellness as well as the key concepts of epidemiology.
The Leadership in 21st Century Policing undergraduate certificate offered through the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences is available online. Students are able to understand ethical issues facing police in today’s world and develop a style of leadership that adheres to current theories as well as principles of effective leadership. They are able to apply ethical and leadership theories to a wide range of situations and are able to lead in a culturally diverse profession. Students understand employment law issues that have an impact on leaders of employment agencies and are able to lead using those laws.
About Northern Arizona University
The Arizona Normal College opened in 1899 with the goal of educating teachers who would provide services in rural areas. When the school opened with just 23 students, the only books available to students were two copies of the Webster’s Dictionary and the first president of the school traveled the area in a horse and buggy trying to grow enrollment when he was not teaching.
Enrollment grew steadily until the Great Depression and the future of the school grew increasingly uncertain when the only bank in the area closed in 1932. Grady Grammage, who was serving as the school’s president at the time, convinced the community that higher education was a critical part of the community. His efforts led to doubled enrollment during the Great Depression but the outbreak of World War II dropped enrollment significantly.
Navy V-12 training was established on campus in order to keep the doors open, one of only 150 chosen out of 1,600. A Campus Civilian Defense Program further insured the schools’ future, creating an aircraft spotting post. As soldiers returned after the war to take advantage of the GI Bill, enrollment grew steadily, however. The school became Northern Arizona University in 1966.
Today, Northern Arizona University offers nationally ranked programs, is recognized for its research and is a leader in sustainability, science, business, green building, and cultural arts.

Northern Arizona State University Application Requirements
In order to apply for the Accelerated Master of Arts in History program, applicants must have completed at least 60 credit hours with at least the last 30 at Northern Arizona University. They must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and must have completed at least four history classes, two of which must be upper-level. They must also have a GPA of 3.5 in all history classes attempted. They must submit unofficial transcripts and a short, personal statement. Three faculty recommendations, two of them from Northern Arizona University history faculty, must be provided.
Applicants for the Ph.D. in Education in Curriculum and Instruction must hold a master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all undergraduate work. They must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended as well as a current resume, three letters of recommendation, a letter of interest and a writing sample. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate professional or leadership experiences in education, community or non-professional activities, a personal history of working in diverse settings and must provide a personal statement on diversity.
Applicants to the Master of Science in Computer Information Technology must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. They must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher and must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Three references, a personal statement and a current resume must also be submitted.
In order to apply for the Bachelor of Science in Health Science and Applied Health, applicants must be admitted to or enrolled in an associate’s degree program at a regionally accredited community college or university in an allied health discipline. They must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 in all associate’s work. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be submitted.
Applicants who wish to complete the Leadership in 21st Century Policing undergraduate certificate may apply for the program in addition to another degree program or as stand-alone.
Northern Arizona University Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition for undergraduate programs for Arizona residents attending on campus is $1,209 per credit hour and for non-residents it is $1,501 per credit hour. Graduate tuition for Arizona residents attending on campus is $968 per credit hour and for non-residents $1,808 per credit hour. Online undergraduate tuition is $469 per credit hour and online graduate tuition is $609 per credit hour regardless of residency.
Students receive more than $325 million in financial assistance each year. In order to qualify, all students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), regardless of income. Students attending on campus may be offered work-study, assistantships or fellowships. All students may be offered loans while undergraduate students may be offered grants and scholarships. Graduate students are encouraged to apply for grants and scholarships on their own.
