Degree Programs Available at Northcentral University

For this reason, Northcentral University offers degrees to students in flexible formats that make it easier for working adults to earn degrees.

The School of Business offers a Doctor of Criminal Justice degree that is available online. The program provides students with an understanding of the complex network of today’s court system, law enforcement, and the correction system. It provides the advanced knowledge that students need to become leaders in the field of criminal justice. Students gain a deep understanding of criminal justice theory, civil and criminal liability and are able to distinguish themselves in the workplace. Students may specialize their studies in the following areas:

  • Homeland Security
  • Policing
  • White-Collar Crime

There is no residency requirement for the degree program.

The School of Education offers an Education Specialist in Educational Leadership that prepares those with a minimum of three years’ teaching experience with an understanding of data-driven decision-making and evidence-based educational practice. Students explore current topics as they pertain to leaders in education today. They study organizational leadership in order to improve performance in an educational setting. Students gain an understanding of the need for diversity in learning, principles of leadership and financial issues relating to schools.

The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology offered through the Psychology Department at Northcentral University helps students gain an understanding of human behavior and emotions as well as the principles used in a diverse, global society. The program is available online and encourages self-reflection in the application of psychological principles. The program is also available in a dual bachelor’s and master’s format. The degree requires 60 credit hours and can be completed in as little as 21 months.

The Master of Science in Cybersecurity at Northcentral University provides students with an understanding of the importance of protecting data. The program explains how securing data is critical to protecting the economy, personal information and our country’s infrastructure. Students gain an understanding of the latest tools, practices, methods, and procedures used to protect information and infrastructure. Students learn to use monitoring systems, intrusion detection functions, and forensic tools to identify threats. The program is aligned with Certified Information Systems Security Professional standards.

In 1996, Northcentral University was founded with a goal to offer an education with a one-on-one approach. The school has always offered programs in flexible formats to assist non-traditional students in gaining a college degree.

An Oxford Learning Model is used at Northcentral University, pairing one faculty member for each course. This gives students a more personal learning experience and allows for the development of mentors throughout each subject. No physical residency is required for any program offered at the school and each faculty member has a terminal degree in their field.

Northcentral University Accreditation Details

Northcentral University has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 2003. Regional accreditation indicates that the school offers programs that are of the highest quality based on criteria developed by the Commission. The school undergoes periodic review to confirm that programs continue to meet the criteria and the school addresses any areas identified as needing improvement immediately. Accreditation also indicates that Northcentral University has the resources to meet its goals and objectives. In addition, programs throughout the University are accredited by:

Northcentral University Application Requirements

Official high school transcripts must be provided in order to apply for any undergraduate program at Northcentral University. Transfer students must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. They must have completed at least 60 semester transfer credits with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

In order to apply for master’s level programs at Northcentral University, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be provided and they must have a GPA or higher in all attempted master’s level work.

Applicants to doctorate level programs must hold a master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. They must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. No more than nine semester credits be transferred from another college or university toward a doctorate program at Northcentral University. All transfer students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in all doctoral courses attempted.

Northcentral University Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition at Northcentral University for Doctor of Criminal Justice is $3,519 per course and for the Educational Specialist program $2,664 per course. Tuition for the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology is $1,383 per course and the Master of Science in Cybersecurity is $2,886 per course.

Financial aid is available. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify. Grants and scholarships may be offered to undergraduate students. These are considered gift aid and do not need to be repaid. Loans may also be included in financial aid packets but these must be repaid upon graduation. Graduate students will be offered loans to cover the cost of tuition but may seek grants and scholarships from outside organizations.

Military students are offered lower tuition rates and the school also accepts military benefits, including Veteran Administration, Active Duty, National Guard or Reserve benefits. Employer benefits are also accepted. Payment plans are also available.
