Often, students come to the program with a personal business idea but it is not required for acceptance. Throughout the program, individuals create and perfect their idea and business plan. They also have access to a number of resources including mentors, roundtables, peers, business plan writing tools leadership and more. Courses include Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Revenues, Costs, Capital, Entrepreneurial Perspectives and Business Plan as well as Implementation.
The Bachelor of Science in Retailing and Consumer Science is designed for those who wish to integrate knowledge of consumers and merchandising processes. They are provided the knowledge of technology-based consumer practices in the fields of merchandising, entrepreneurship, retailing, e-tailing, sales, consumer service as well as training and development. The program is designed for students who have completed the core curriculum at the University of Houston as only the upper-level courses are available online. The University of Houston Law School is ranked in the top 10 in the country, according to US News & World Report. The Master of Laws program blends scholarship with the love of teaching. Students are able to concentrate their studies in the following areas:

The program is available on campus only and students may attend part-time. Through part-time study, it takes three years to complete the program and students must be enrolled every fall and spring semester.
The Master of Mechanical Engineering program at the University of Houston is an online, on-thesis degree program that provides a depth of knowledge related to mechanical engineering. The program is designed for engineering graduates who are seeking to expand their technical skills. It is available both on campus and online, requiring 30 credit hours to complete. The program is grounded in engineering sciences and focuses on providing students with knowledge that will allow them put classroom learning into real-world practice. Students complete courses including applied mechanics, control of dynamical systems, materials science, thermal and fluid sciences as well as biomedical engineering.
About University of Houston
The University of Houston began as Houston Junior College in March 1927 when the trustees of the Houston Independent School District Board of Education passed a resolution that authorized the founding of a junior college. The school was originally located in the San Jacinto High School and only offered courses at night. The first session of the school was held to educate teachers and freshmen were not admitted. In September 1927, enrollment was open to all who met the admission requirements.
In 1933, the school became a four-year institution and then-Governor Miriam A. Ferguson signed a bill into law creating the University of Houston. Classes were still held at San Jacinto High School until a campus was established at the Second Baptist Church in 1934. A year later, the campus moved to the South Main Baptist Church between Richmond Avenue and Eagle Street.
In 1936, the heirs of J.J. Settlegast and Ben Taub, both philanthropists, donated 110 acres to build a permanent campus. At the time, there was no road leading to the tract of land but the city agreed to build what was then called Saint Bernard Street and is now known as Cullen Boulevard. The National Youth Administration took on the project of clearing the land and workers were paid fifty cents per hour to clear the land. In 1938, Hugh Roy Cullen donated $335,000, an amount that would equal almost $6 million today, to build the first building on campus.
Today, there are 46,000 students attending the University of Houston. The school offers more than 200 degree programs, including the first Subsea Engineering Master’s Program.

University of Houston Application Requirements
In order to apply for undergraduate programs such as the Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship or the Bachelor of Arts in Retailing and Consumer Science, applicants must provide official high school transcripts as well as official ACT or SAT scores. Students enrolled in the dual credit program must apply as freshmen regardless of the number of credits they have earned.
In order to apply for the Master of Laws, applicants must hold a law degree from an accredited college or university. They must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended as well as a statement of purpose. They must provide a current resume along with two letters of reference.
In order to apply for the Master of Mechanical Engineering program, applicants must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. They must also provide a current resume, official GRE scores and three references. An essay is also required along with an area of interest and supplemental form.
The University of Houston Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition for the Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship is $398.23 for residents and $920.23 per credit hour for non-residents. Tuition for the Retailing and Consumer Science undergraduate degree is $370 per credit hour. Full-time tuition for the Master of Laws program is $31,084 for Texas residents and $42,890 for non-residents. Tuition for the Master of Mechanical Engineering program is $502 per credit hour.
Undergraduate students are eligible for assistance in the form of scholarships based on academic merit and grants which are often based on need. Loans are also available and students who attend on-campus may be offered work-study programs. Financial aid is available for the Master of Laws program in the form of the Dean’s Scholarship and outside scholarships. They may also use student loans to pay tuition for the program. All students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
